Antoine Henry discovers his paintings at the Château de Val, property of the municipality of Bort-les-Orgues (Corrèze)

A new season begins at the Château de Val, owned by the municipality of Bort-les-Orgues, located in the town of Lanobre, with the traditional spring exhibition dedicated, this year, to the painter Antoine Henry.

The obsession with print and color.

After studying French and American literature, this artist, born in 1961 in Paris, oriented his professional career in the haute couture sector. “I have always wanted to create. Pattern and color are an obsession”, explained Antoine Henry during the inauguration organized by the Bort-les-Orgues town hall and the Christiane Vallé gallery in Clermont-Ferrand, on Easter Sunday morning; in the presence of about fifty guests.

After more than 15 years in the service of luxury, especially at Azzaro and Balenciaga, he decided to devote himself entirely to painting after a notable first personal exhibition in Osaka, on the Japanese island of Honshu. Antoine Henry is regularly honored in Korea or Japan, as well as in France since 1996.

A Personal Abstract Approach

His work takes into account and revises the abstract approaches of the 20th century. Y century in a poetic effort to suggest atmospheres. The landscapes and scenes of everyday life, apparently simple, deeply question the interpretation.

Man is never absent from paintings even if he is not represented there. The artist works with a gouge on backgrounds of various colors painted in oil on which he stylizes objects. They are figurative postures, both expressionist and abstract, that have their place in the contemporary world. He adds a poetic and colorful side to it that enhances the atmosphere.
