Organization of temporary exhibitions and circulation of cultural goods within African institutions

Goals

This seminar should allow the participants to become familiar with or rediscover the fundamentals of the design and organization of temporary exhibitions, taking into account the African context, alternating theoretical presentations, comments on the experience (eg Picasso exhibition in Dakar), case studies and visits to French exhibitions and museums.

Organized by the Louvre Conseil, it will bring together fifteen experienced French-speaking professionals from African museum institutions in Paris and the region with the project of designing and organizing temporary exhibitions. It will encourage participants to compare their experiences and will facilitate the development of professional networks between France and the countries of the participants and between the participants themselves to promote itinerant future exhibitions.

This seminar is intended exclusively for French-speaking professionals working in African museum institutions (museum / art center / gallery managers, curators, curators, project managers, exhibition managers) with the project of designing and organizing temporary exhibitions that require works loan applications. in France or abroad.

application requirements

The seminar takes place exclusively in French.

Once completed, the application file must imperatively be sent to the Cooperation and Cultural Action Services of the French Embassy or the French Institute of the candidate’s country of residence by email to obtain their opinion.

You will find all the contact details of French embassies abroad online.

These services will send the application files to the Ministry of Culture.

Application file and attachments to provide

  • the duly completed form,
  • a copy of the international passport,
  • a photo of the candidate respecting the photographic rules necessary for official documents,
  • one or more documents presenting the cultural structure where the professional candidate works,
  • the employment certificate of the professional candidate as well as a description of their responsibilities.

selection calendar

June 15, 2022: deadline for receipt of the application files at the Ministry of Culture, sent by the cooperation and cultural action services of the French Embassy or the French Institute of the candidate’s country of residence.

July – August 2022: The selected professionals will be contacted by email to start preparing their participation in the seminar.

October 10 to 22, 2022 : collective seminar in Paris

Expenses covered if application is successful

  • educational costs,
  • living expenses (accommodation and catering),
  • internal travel in France for the purposes of the program,
  • insurance.

Please note that the international ticket is not covered and must be paid for by the candidate, their establishment, the French Embassy or the French institute in the country of residence, or any other body. Visa costs are also not covered.
