Finance Coordinator | Canada Books

Livres Canada Books is currently seeking a part-time finance coordinator (3 days/24 hours a week).

Founded in 1972, Livres Canada Books is an Ottawa-based non-profit association. The association’s mandate is to help Canadian publishers sell their titles abroad and improve their overall export performance. Livres Canada Books, the only association in the country that brings together French and English publishers, connects all Canadian publishers and offers them services in both official languages.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Finance Coordinator is responsible for the accounting and financial management processes of Livres Canada Books.


  • Develop and implement mechanisms to streamline procedures related to finances (budgets, monthly reports, year-end audits) and operations (target calendar, etc.);
  • Act as financial controller and authorized signatory of the financial resources allocated to programs and services;
  • Prepare and process financing requests and payment requests with cash flow;
  • Control accounts receivable and payable;
  • Oversee payroll and administer the employee benefits program;
  • Prepare all documents related to HST, reimbursement calculation and payment transmission;
  • Participate in the collection of statistical data related to the use of financial assistance;
  • Participate in the planning, review and design of the activities and programs of Livres Canada Books, and support the initiatives of the Board of Directors, Committees and the Executive Director;
  • Perform, on occasions, special tasks at the request of the General Manager.

Qualifications, knowledge and skills required

  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of professional experience related to the position;
  • Obtain a post-secondary degree in business administration, preferably in accounting or a related field;
  • Proven experience in financial planning and accounting management in a non-profit environment;
  • Computer Skills: MS Office; knowledge of Sage Simply Accounting is also required;
  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment;
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with various stakeholders;
  • Management experience is an asset;
  • Fluency in English and French, both oral and written.
