Formerly the Gaite Theater, this beautiful establishment, converted into a cultural center dedicated to digital arts and contemporary music, is also celebrating its tenth anniversary. A theater that was born in 1759 by the hand of Jean Baptiste Nicolet who installs on the boulevard du Temple a show along the lines of the fairground theater. A show that draws crowds, despite complaints from the italian comedybut protected by privilege.
It was in 1772 that the Nicolet theater took the name “Gaîté”, obtaining for the first time the real denomination of Theater of the Great Dancers of the Kingthen in 1789 Gaite Theater and Great Dancers. The establishment becomes Gaite Theater in 1792, then it evolved over the centuries: operetta theater, and even an amusement park, until 1991, after several closures. It was in 2011 that the establishment became the cultural center it is today, rising from the ashes!
