the festival “Here Ithaca” is organized by the progressive rock band Treakswell known in the Nantes rock scene, and Production of Mooring Linesan association based in Nantes created in 2020 that aims to promote emerging festivals.
A pop-up rock and punk festival
The idea was born from the mind of Malek Chorfi, organizer, and Simon Burgaud, secretary and co-founder of the festival and secretary of the association.
We wanted to create a festival dedicated to the emerging rock scene, explains Malek Chorfi. For this year we only do rock and punk.
The two friends already have a foothold in the world of music and the associated experience: “we are both musicians, we have both already participated in volunteer support for rock and circus festivals, student festivals in the Paris region. »
The objective of Amarres is above all “to spread our artistic vision and the associative universe. The association has just organized Orange Fest, another more eclectic festival, which takes place in Grand Auverné (44). The goal is “to have several emerging cultural projects to pool resources and human resources. With two festivals organized this summer, the association hopes to financially sustain its projects by pooling costs.
“Economically it is self-financed, specifies the organizer, with a sale of t-shirts in which our poster appears. In addition to the tickets sold, snacks and snacks, the association was able to collect some donations from individuals and companies.
Ticket sales online and on site
ten volunteers are mobilized for the organization, twenty will be present on the site on Saturday 3. Between 150 and 200 festival attendees They are expected. “We haven’t sold enough tickets yet,” says Malek Chorfi. Those interested can buy their tickets at the Internet box office or on the site.
A program close to the territory
The poster is made up of garage rock and punk bands, “a lot of bands that we know”, specifies Malek Chorfi. “The gratin, the crème de la crème of emerging artists from the Nantes and Rennes region”, proclaims the festival organization on his Facebook account.
The party will start with Lost Roadprogressive rock group with a hard rock tendency, inspired by great music legends such as Jimmy Hendrix and the Beatles, on Saturday September 3 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:25 p.m. accompanied by the captivating voice of the singer, Andréa-Aziliz, with Celtic intonations.
The public will then have the pleasure of hearing Kissesrecent garage rock band formed by a guitar duo accompanied by two other musicians, on Saturday September 3 from 7 to 7:40 p.m.
Followed by candies, progressive rock/post-punk band. The trio “takes you on a journey through frenetic nuances, like a ride on a roller coaster”, from 8:15 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.
And the roller coaster will continue with Guadal Tejazfrom 10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.: psychedelic rock band that will transport you with a “toxic post-punk sound”
Finally, the evening will end in style with Claviclea garage punk quartet, from 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
Many projects for the festival.
“Ithaka is the end of a journey,” says Malek Chorfi, who had first chosen the Odyssey as the name for the festival, before retracting, already very busy, in particular for the ‘Orvault concert hall. The notion of to travel It is preponderant in the idea you have of the party.
We want people to come and stay in Ithaca.
The project of the festival, led to develop, must be grafted onto several small events in the west of France. Like Ulysses’ many stops during his journey. “We are going to create stepsSmall children concerts in another cities in Brittany in particular”, projects the organizer.
As for the music, in Ici Ithaque “we are going to stick to punk rock”, promises Makel Chorfi, who wants to add Circus arts, such as aerobatics, to add spectacle to the music. And why not puppet shows… for adults! This bold idea aims to “attract people who are not used to coming to discover, mixing universes. This is our singularity, but also our great difficulty. »
