Buy a work of art to fight cancer, at the Halle aux Sucres in Lille

Until Sunday, October 2, 2022 to Lille Sugar Showdiscover the 4th exhibition and sale of “111 des Arts-Lille”. More than 1,100 works are for sale to benefit the fight against cancer. 111 artists northerners take part. Entertainment is also planned. the proceeds will go to cancer research and for the welfare of the sick in Lille.

Combining an artistic approach with solidarity in the fight against cancer is the idea of ​​the 111 des Arts-Lille association. For 4 years, an exhibition and sale has been organized for a week in Lille. 111 local artists are members.

350 artist files

Catherine Soubrier, one of the association’s three founding mothers, explains: “We had 350 files, a sign that artists are interested in our approach. Like every year, we select 111. Some are professionals, others are amateurs. A third participates for the first time. Each work is sold for €96 (€48 for the artist, €48 for the association), plus €15 for the frame.

Thursday, September 29: at 8 pm, “Léo” show followed by a debate by the company Belle histoire.
Friday 30: from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., botanical watercolor with Bloom (€11). At 7:00 p.m., initiation to rock dancing.
Saturday, October 1: from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., introduction to civil protection rescue actions (€17); at 3 pm, workshop at the Palais des Beaux-Arts on “La Fabrique des couleurs”.
Sunday 2: from 3 to 5 p.m., sewing and upcycling workshop (€11); end of the day: final fanfare, draw.
Expo open every day from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Halle aux Sucres (Vieux-Lille).

70 volunteers

70 volunteers are mobilized for a week to welcome visitors to the Sugar Show and manage the sale of works. They are all in the 20×20 cm format. And there are a great diversity: acrylic, collage, photos, in relief and even on zinc! There are portraits, landscapes, hijacked ads, abstract art…

And the municipal children’s council of Lille participates. “The children produced paintings in the same medium as the artists, sold at €11 each. You can choose a work to offer to a sick child, the association will send it to them! »

A show

Animations and workshops are also planned on site. Like the show-debate “Léo” that will be presented by the company La Belle histoire on Thursday, September 29 at 8:00 p.m.

This is the story of a 15-year-old schoolboy, Léo, who suddenly discovers his illness. He then discovers another world. In addition to having to undergo his treatments, another question arises: how will his friends, his teachers, his parents, his little brother react?

Approximately 70,000 euros per year raised

In 2021, 907 paintings were sold, for an amount of 76,000 euros. “We hope to reach 1,000 works sold this year! Catherine Soublier smiles. The amount raised, on average between 60 and 80,000 euros, is given to the CHR of Lille and the Oscar-Lambret centre. “80% goes to fundamental research against cancer, and 20% to the well-being of patients. »

The operation has already financed, for example, the development of the new family room in the Oscar-Lambret centre.
