North Mayenne. “Chalmant Fest”, a festival of music and friends on Saturday, October 1

In a place called Le Chalmant in Saint-Cyr-en-Pail (Mayenne), almost 30 km from Alençon (Orne), a dozen young people are busy with various development works on the site that will host the “Chalmant Fest” festival on Saturday, October 1, 2022.

It is here that these young people, aged 20 to 25, created their association “yapud’saison”. They share this place that belongs to Maxime Rondeau since the first confinement, between his studies and seasonal or local work. Caravans and other mobile homes surround a farmhouse and farm buildings. A large garden and greenhouse allowed the group to grow vegetables.

We live here together and it was great to share. We wanted to set up a project together. We are friends since high school and we have always had activities in common.

“We are all passionate about music and the idea of ​​holding a festival came naturally,” adds one of the girls in the group.

Administrative procedures, programming, communication, logistics, site planning, security. Creating such a project is not easy. They were able to count on the support of the municipality of Saint-Cyr-en-Pail and the Mont des Avaloirs Community of Municipalities through equipment loans.

The festival will open on Saturday afternoon 14:00 : Crazy Clown games in Pré-en-Pail, shuffleboard contests, make-up and massage sessions, a storytelling workshop for children, but also the presence of local designers and volunteer musicians. All protected under barnums.

Rap, folklore…

in the afternoon from 7 p.m.make way for music with Pounz the Breton rapper who will distill his texts, the raymond (country rock folklore), angry yeti a punk band from Belle Ile and the main band butter beans from Brest with his Ska Punk repertoire.

These concerts take place in an old agricultural warehouse converted for the occasion into a concert hall with professionals to provide the sound.


“Here we had a participatory way of life with freedom, friendship and respect for everyone,” continues a member of the collective.

Therefore, the choice of young people is to offer “free admission” to allow all those who wish to participate.

The bar and the catering with local products will also allow these young people to repay their self-financing and, without a doubt, to be able to put on other concert evenings.
